Linda Wingo founded Angel Food Ministries in 1994 to provide
food for friends and neighbors who were struggling
financially. Today, they are still doing the same thing. The
Angel Food program now is helping provide food relief to
more than 500,000 families each month.

2008 Gospel Choice Awards Selects Emmanuel Praise Church for its Church of the Year Award
Emmanuel Praise Church, the founding church of Angel Food Ministries, in Monroe, Georgia has been chosen as this year’s recipient of Church of the Year for the Gospel Choice/Pepsi Bottling Group’s Community Outreach Award. This prestigious award is given to one church each year for humanitarian work in their community and throughout the United States. Emmanuel Praise Church was nominated along with 15 other churches across Georgia known for their outreach and benevolent impact on their community.

Doing More Together
“Knowing you care about me,” she said, “means more than I can say.”
Tears sprang to my eyes as I realized the impact a little kindness can have. It was such a small thing for me to ask about the welfare of one of our sweet, little volunteers. It cost me nothing but a few moments of time to let her know how much I appreciate her and ask her what was going on in her life. However, that small gesture was a big deal to her.

Worry and anxiety are universal addictions. If you’ve ever paced the floor at night over a situation, you know it can be just as debilitating as any other bad habit. One great danger in giving in to worry is that when we do, those things causing us anxiety can become our focus and steal our attention and energy away from the things that matter. When we are anxious, we begin to abide in a place of worry rather than abiding in God.
